Have you often longed for some time away from the stress and bother of everyday life, to re-establish your inner harmony and express your creativity? Would you like to spend some time with your family and friends engaging in a fun, unusual experience that is both entertaining and educational? Join our mosaic or fresco workshop!
Uncover the secret techniques of the great masters whose works you’ve admired around Rome: Michelangelo’s fresco paintings in the Sistine Chapel, the glistening mosaics in St. Peter’s Basilica...
In our fresco lab, you’ll learn about this painting technique dating back to ancient times, and hear about the pigments imported from far away countries to produce the brilliant colors used in the painting, traditionally applied onto the “fresh” plaster (hence the name “fresco”!). Try your hand at painting a fresco on your own, under the guidance of our fun, engaging teacher! This way, you’ll also have a wonderful souvenir to take home to remind you of your Roman Holiday!
If you’ve been fascinated by the mosaics that can be seen in many ancient Roman ruins, as well as in most churches, it’s high time to join our tailored mosaic making course, fit for all ages and skills levels.
Learn about the traditional techniques: “Mosaico Tagliato Romano” and “Micromosaico Filato Romano”. In the first case, polychrome marbles are cut into tiny pieces called “tessere” to be arranged into a design, similar to a jigsaw puzzle; while micromosaics are made using enamels and vitreous paste, heated and moulded into shape. Under the guidance of a master mosaicist, learn how to design and create beautiful mosaics with traditional cutting techniques, and have your own mosaic to take home as a memory to cherish for life!
Courses are held in a welcoming little studio right in the historical centre of Rome, in the Rione Ponte neighborhood, not far from Piazza Navona and Castel Sant'Angelo. All materials are provided, just bring your talent, or lack of talent! It doesn’t matter, everybody can find their artistic streak and have lots of fun doing it!
